Our History
Ridge View Primary first opened its doors on the 5th of May 1980.
It was a memorable occasion in that learners walked in with the teachers to occupy an entirely new school at 20 Bertha Road in Northdale, Pietermaritzburg.
The original staff of Ridge View Primary consisted of Mr. A. E. Kajee who was appointed Principal, Mr. C.R. John as Deputy principal, Mr. S. Harrilall as the head of Department in the Senior Primary, Mrs. N. Naidoo as the Junior Primary H.O.D and the teaching staff consisted of Mrs. H.D Singh, Mrs. L.Govender, Mr.A.K.Singh, Mrs.F.C.Lawrence, Miss.D.Naidoo, Miss K.Pillay, Mr. M.A.K. Jamaloodeen, Mrs. J.R. Ramen Mrs.G.Haigh, Mrs V.J.Singh, Miss Singh, Mr.P.M.Chinsammy, Mrs.J.Hardeurpersad, Mr.V.Naiker, Mrs J.Rajdew, Mrs.D.J.A.Reddiar, Mrs. K. Sewpaul and Mrs. D. Singh. The school secretary appointed was Miss. S. Naidoo.
715 excited learners enrolled into Ridge View Primary on that opening day. Everyone who came through the gates was amazed at the beautiful buildings, lush gardens and everything this wonderful school had to offer. The day was filled with a sense of purpose, passion and enthusiasm.. Ridge View Primary shone that day in all her glory…
