ANDRE WESLEY NAIDOO MEMORIAL ANNUAL SPEECH CONTEST FOR GRADE SEVEN
–MRS.A.M.NAIDOO
Our annual Andre Wesley Naidoo Memorial Speech Contest is indeed a very exciting and invigorating experience for the learners. An internal competition is held to select the learner who will represent our school in the annual external round of competition. Learners are tested on their content, tone of voice audibility, stage presence and ability to speak on unseen topics based on headlines of the current year. This Year (2019) Courtney Naidoo placed second in the external Round Robin round of the competition The Grade seven learners really look forward to this competition. Ridge View Primary have also proudly been a host school for one of the Round Robin rounds for the last four years, we hope that we are given this privilege for many years to come
Love to Live
Mrs. L. Nadas
Our learners from grades 1 to 7 participated in the “Love to Live” 2019 campaign. The theme for this year was “Be a Buddy, not a Bully”. In an effort to raise awareness about bullying, we thought that getting our learners involved in this campaign will help to further educate them about its harmful effects. We believe that “knowledge conquers” and keeping this in mind, affording our learners the opportunity to participate in an event such as this, not only showcases their talent but also makes them more knowledgeable about current societal concerns.
It is our pleasure to announce that the following learners did our school proud in attaining first position for the following categories:
Grades 1-3: Poster competition
1st position – Skylar Archary Grade 2
Grades 6-7: Poster competition
1st position- Shivasthi Singh Grade 6
Grades 6-7: Essay competition
1st position- Shivasthi Singh Grade 6
We believe that the learners at Ridge View Primary have great potential and therefore we will encourage more learners to participate in this initiative next year. The learners also participated in the “Love to Live-Fun Walk” and while we anticipated a greater participation from the learner and parent community, we would like to extend our sincere thanks all those who did participate.
